...and dryer problems. After talking to Pat yesterday I checked out the dryer vent issue. Sounds like there is history of clothes taking a while to dry. Apparently Chuck found the outdoor screen vent and closed it. Pat later found it clogged with lint outdoors.
Mom absolutely insisted that screen stay closed, so after my load today I went out and found it was again covered with lint after 1 single load.
I pulled back the dryer and pulled some lint from the tubing and reattached it to the dryer...however, in the process I found a huge pile of mouse turds and sunflower shells and other 'stuff'. I vacuumed it up, and made sure mom saw what was going on as they have an exterminator that comes once a month. I sent text pics to Sheilah, Norah, and rondah. Mom was so insistent that i push the dryer as far back as it was... but this time I stood up to her and told her it was so close to the wall the venting was compressed and I think it was causing lint to get trapped within it. She hung her head in her hands, I mean seriously, I'm talking about a 3 inch diff! I am sure you all can relate.
Finally, about phone calls. As much as mom LOVES then, dad detests them. She carries the hand set wherever she goes in order to catch it on the first half ring. I told Sheilah she needs a phone holster! Quick Draw LaVerne.
I would discourage anyone calling between 1 & 3:30--as that is their rolling nap times, also not much after 8 p.m. Better yet, send a letter. Dad does like those!
Ok, gonna lay low now in fear I discover another problem in this old house! This has been quite an experience...a bit tense and crotchety at times, but overall a goodnone, and I am glad I came.
Tomorrow morning: fresh brewed coffee!
Over and (soon) out!
March
Marciah - I'm with you on the dryer bit - moving the dryer away from the wall just 3" will serve them better. Too many times there are dryer fires with excess lint in them. I hope you mentioned that to her. You did the RIGHT thing; just wonder if she pushed it back!
