Mike's 1st Four Hour Shift!

Mike Here!

I arrived last night at 7:30 PM.  Went to the houe and read the "book".  Marciah, read the book first thing.  Dad wants everyone to read the book.  It was the second thing he said after "Hi".  Mom looks Great, but is depending on the walker too much (according to Dad).  Wen tto the hotel room at 1000 PM.

I showed up at the house at 8:00 AM and Norah left at 9:00.  After stripping the beds and bringing them down to the laundry room, Mom wanted me to blow down the driveway, so I did.  When I finished, I started shoveling the compost off the street (the leaves never cleared the street, so there is four feet of leaves and compsot upt three feet deep on the edge of the street).  The compost is so good, I am tempted to buy some plastic buckets and bring it back to Albuquerque.  While doing this, Dad came out to check the mail.  He asked, What the hell I was doing.  I told him and he said he'd rather I fix the sprayer that was broken on the kitchen sink, so Mom can wash her hair.  I told him Mom said that H&L was going to come out and fix it.  He asked if I knew how and I said yes, screw off the nozzle and put a new one on.  He said then do it!.

While fixing it, Mom asked if it was done yet.  How cute!!  After fixing it, I asked if they wanted me to stay in the hotel or at the house.  Dad said it was up to Mom.  Mom asked what was the benefit for me staying at the hotel, and I said a bigger bathroom, nicer shower and more comfortable bed.  I also said they can get back to a normal life.  They said stay at the hotel and that my "work hours" are 8:00 to 12:30 and 4:00 to 8:00.

I didn't tell them I tore my calf muscle or tendon in my calf three weeks ago.  I have a Cam walking boot on it most of the time.  When I drove cross country, it felt great, and I didn't bother changing back into the boot until I stopped for the night.  It felt okay when working today.  I was a little unsteady on the stairs, but by the time I left, I was doing okay.  Mom & Dad didn't notice the limp.  Now I get to soak it in a hot tub twice a day when I am back at t he hotel and rest with the leg up.  I now notice how hot the laptops get when they are on your laptop.

Well, I am heading back to the house for my second four hour shift.  I plan to pick up some pictures and convert them but will try to blog between shifts.
